Hi everyone, my name is Katherine and welcome to With Katherine! One of my goals for 2023 is to finally launch this blog where I will focus on my three favorite things: fashion, food, and wine. For this first blog post I want to share a little about myself and give some background on why I am passionate about these things.
Ever since I was a little girl, I have always loved fashion. Every month I would go to the QFC, which is a local Washington State grocery store chain, and buy as many fashion magazines as I could. I would scan through every page and bunny ear the pages with my favorite looks. Sometimes I would cut out my favorite styles and create vision boards/collages. In high school I started working in retail at companies like Abercrombie & Fitch and Madewell. It wasn't until I started working at Marlowe Boutique four years ago that I truly found my passion in fashion. Being at Marlowe gave me the opportunity to learn, grow, and play around in the fashion industry. When I first started to do the try on's, it was a way to force myself to get over my insecurities and feel more comfortable in front of the camera. Now it has become a part of my job I don't even think twice about and it makes me so happy hearing that it helps so many people with styling ideas!
Trying food from different countries and new restaurants is something I have always loved but cooking is a new passion I have discovered. Someone once told me that it is more fun cooking for someone than for just yourself and I agree with that 100%. My boyfriend, Chris, and I love to cook together. We put on our favorite music, split up the work, and get to cooking. We joined HelloFresh for a while as a way to learn how to cook a variety of different cuisines.
Wine is something my Dad introduced me to from a young age. For holidays he would pour me a small splash of wine. He would ask me to tell him what flavors I smelled. Then we would sip it together and talk about the flavors. I had absolutely no idea what he was talking about then but now it has really made me appreciate the complexity in each wine. During the early parts of the pandemic, I went wine tasting in Woodinville for the first time. I started going more frequently and joined a few wine clubs as a way to learn more about wine. My friend, Meghan, and I bought wine journals and we started to bring them with us to write notes about what we liked, didn't like, aromas, tastes, and so on. I am excited to be able to share with you all my knowledge and take you along on my learning journey.
